This is different than the traditional poha. The addition of cilantro to this dish enhances the taste and gives a different spin on the usual poha 🙂
Ingredients :
For Green Chutney:
Coriander Leaves – 1 small bunch
Ginger – 1 inch long (chopped)
Green Chilli – 3
Lemon Juice – ½ tsp
Other Ingredients:
Flattened Rice (Poha) – 1 cup
Cumin Seeds – ½ tsp
Mustard Seeds – ½ tsp
Curry Leaves – from 1 twig
Onion -1 (finely chopped)
Broccoli (cut into fine florets) – ¼ cup (optional)
Frozen Peas – ½ cup (parboiled)
Turmeric Powder – 1 pinch
Lemon Juice – ½ tsp
Salt to taste
Method :
Take the Poha in a bowl and wash it. Strain the Poha and remove the water. Add Salt and Sugar. Mix well and keep aside.
Grind all the ingredients together under the “For Green Chutney” column into a fine paste.
Heat the Oil in a pan. Add Mustard Seeds and Cumin Seeds and allow them to crackle. Add the chopped Onion. Stir fry till the Onion become translucent.
Add the Green Peas and the Broccoli. Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes till the Broccoli is cooked.
Add the Green Chutney and Turmeric Powder. Stir all together for a minute.
Add the Poha and the lemon juice. Mix everything gently.
The very tasty Hariyali Poha is ready for serving.
