Lentils with their skin intact are very good source of proteins. And the Green Gram is very healthy among them and is easily digestible than the other lentils. We will make a very good dal dish with this Green Gram here. It goes well with Roti, Naan etc. It goes well with steamed Rice as well.
Ingredients:
Green Moong Dal /Split Green Gram) – ½ cup
Tomato (medium sized) – 1 (finely chopped)
Green Chillies – 2 (finely chopped)
Turmeric Powder – 1/8 tsp

For Tempering:
Oil – 2 tbsp
Cumin Seeds – ¾ tsp
Garlic (finely chopped)- 1 tbsp
Red Chilli Powder – ½ tsp
Coriander Powder – ½ tsp
Asafoetida – 1/8 tsp
Method:
Wash and clean the Dal.
Take it in a pressure cook with Tomato, Green Chillies, Salt and Turmeric Powder.
Add 2 cups of water. Cook the Dal in the pressure cooker for 2 to 3 whistles till the Dal becomes soft. Open the pan after 10 minutes.
Mash the Dal a little. Add water for the required consistency and boil for a couple of minutes.
In the meanwhile, heat the Oil in a Tadka pan. Add Cumin Seeds and allow it to crackle. Add Garlic and stir fry for a minute in low medium flame.
Switch off the flame and add Chilli Powder, Coriander Powder and Asafoetida immediately and stir cook for few seconds.
