A salad is a dish consisting of a mixture of small pieces of food, usually vegetables or fruit. However, different varieties of salad may contain virtually any type of ready-to-eat food. Salads are typically served at room temperature or chilled, with notable exceptions such as south German potato salad which can be served warm.
Garden salads use a base of leafy greens such as lettuce, arugula/rocket, kale or spinach; they are common enough that the word salad alone often refers specifically to garden salads. Other types include bean salad, Greek salad (vegetable-based, but without leafy greens), and sōmen salad (a noodle-based salad). The sauce used to flavor a salad is commonly called a salad dressing; most salad dressings are based on either a mixture of oil and vinegar or a fermented milk product like kefir.
This is mango season. And so, let us see how to make a vegetable salad – yummy and tasty and healthy. It is very easy to make, no cooking involved.
Ingredients:
Olive Oil – 1 tbsp
Grated Ginger – 1 tsp
Black Salt – ½ tsp
Red Chilli Flakes – ½ tsp (adjust as per preference)
Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp
Chopped Cilantro – 2 tbsp
Chopped Pudina (Mint Leaves) – 1 tbsp
Honey – 1 tbsp (adjust as per preference)
Ingredients (Vegetables)
Thinly sliced Raw Mango – 2 cups (use Mangoes which are less sour)
Thinly sliced deseeded Tomatoes – ¼ cup
Sliced Onion – ¼ cup
Peeled, Deseeded, thinly sliced Cucumber – ¼ cup
Capsicum – ¼ cup (deseeded and thinly sliced)
Method:
Let us make the dressing first. Take Olive Oil, Grated Ginger, Black Salt, Chilli Flakes, Lemon Juice, Cilantro, Mint and Honey in a bowl. Mix them well. (Quantity of Chilli Flakes and Honey can be adjusted as per your preference).
Take the sliced Raw Mango, Tomato, Onion, Cucumber and Capsicum. Mix well. Add the dressing which we made. Mix very well.
You can enjoy this Raw Mango Salad or as a snack any time of the day. It is a healthy salad. You can add Cashew Nuts or roasted Peanuts also to this salad. It would enhance the taste.
