Kurmura Chivda is one of the options to make a very easy and quick tasty snack with puffed Rice, Peanuts and roasted Channa Dal. It takes hardly 15 to 20 minutes to make this Chivda. It is one of the crunchiest evening snacks. Puffed rice is very low in calorie and so this Chivda is a munching option for weight watchers even at other time like midday snack in addition to act as an evening snack. It keeps the hunger pang in check. It has a combination of fibre, protein and complex carbs. Try this easy and tasty snack.
Ingredients:
Kurmura (Puffed Rice) – 1 big bowl
Oil – 2 tbsp
Mustard Seeds – ½ tsp to 1 tsp
Pea Nuts – ½ cup
Curry Leaves – from 3 sprigs
Roasted Bengal Gram (Pottu Kadalai) – ¼ cup
Red Chilli Powder – ½ tsp (You can adjust to suit your taste)
Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
Salt – to suit taste
Method:
Heat the Oil in a broad pan. Add Mustard Seeds and then the Peanuts. When the Mustard Seeds start crackling, add the Curry leaves. Roast them for a couple of minutes. Add the roasted Bengal Grams. Roast till the Peanuts are roasted crunchy.
Add the Chilli Powder and Turmeric Powder. Sauté
Add the Kurmura. Mix well in low flame. The Kurmura should not get burnt.
Add the powdered Sugar and required Salt. Mix well. The tasty crunchy Kurmura is ready.
