Mumbai Aloo (Potato) Masala Sandwich is an easy and quick to make yummy sandwich. It is also apt lunch box tiffin for the kids. This sandwich can be served as a breakfast or brunch. Let us look at how to prepare this famous Mumbai Street food
Ingredients
Bread Slices – 6
Green Chutney – 3 to 4 tbsp
For Stuffing:
Bread Slices – 8
Potatoes (cooked and Mashed) – 2 cups
Grated Paneer (Cottage Cheese) – ½ cup
Finely Chopped Onion – 1
Finely chopped Green Chilli – 2
Roasted Cumin Seed Powder – ½ tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1 pinch
Chilli Powder – ½ tsp
Garam Masala (All Spice Powder) – ¼ tsp
Tomato Sauce – 3 tbsp
Butter – as required
Lemon Juice – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Method
Take the mashed Potato, grated Paneer and all other ingredients in a mixing bowl under the heading “For Stuffing” except bread, butter and Tomato Sauce. Mix well. Check salt and spiciness and adjust.
Take one bread slice and spread green chutney evenly on it.
Place 2 to 3 spoonful of Aloo (Potato) masala on the slice. Spread Tomato Sauce in another slice. Cover the Aloo Masala Spread slice with this slice.
Spread butter on top of the slice. Press the Sandwich lightly.
Grill the sandwiches in a bread toaster with buttered side facing down. Spread butter on the top slice and grill till both the sides become golden brown.
Slice the Sandwich and serve with some green chutney or Tomato Sauce or some potato chips.
Note: If bread toaster is not available, the sandwich can be prepared in a dosa pan also.
