Instant Godhumai Paniyaram is a very tasty recipe which does not require any fermentation. Just grind all the ingredients together which takes hardly 2 to 3 minutes and the batter is ready for making this sweet Paniyaram.
Ingredients
Whole Wheat Flour (Atta) – 1 cup
Rice Flour – ¼ cup
Grated Jaggery – ½ cup
Cardoman Powder (Elaichi) – ¼ tsp
Banana (Medium sized) – 2 (chopped)
Cooking Soda or Fruit Salt – 1 pinch
Water – ½ cup
Clarified Butter (Ghee) – ½ tsp for each mold
Method
Take all the ingredients (except Ghee) in a mixer jar and blend it to a smooth semi liquid consistency.
Transfer the batter to a bowl and allow resting for 15 minutes.
Heat a Paniyaram Chatti or Appam Pan. Pour ½ tsp of Oil in each of the cavity. Pour the batter with a spoon to each cavity so that it fills ¾ of the cavity.
Cook the Appams in medium flame till the bottom side of the Appam turns golden brown.
Flip it and allow the other side to become golden brown. Each Appam will take different timings to become brown. So, flip each of them after the bottom becomes golden brown. Or you can keep flipping three of four times to cook them evenly.
Once the Appam becomes crisp (Do not over burn), transfer to a plate.
Serve them hot. They can also be served after they become cool. They can also be stored in the refrigerator in an air tight jar.
