Green peppers with Gram Flour or Capsicum Besan Sabzi is a quick and easy to make North Indian Dish which goes well with Roti, Nan , Chappati, etc.
Ingredients
Capsicum/Green peppers – 2 (cut into small cubes)
Gram Flour (Besan) – 3 to 4 tbsp
Oil – 1 ½ + 1 tbsp
Mustard Seed – ½ tsp
Cumin Seed – 1 tsp
Onion – 2 (finely chopped)
Green Chilli – 2 (finely chopped)
Garlic Pods – 6 (crushed)
Curry Leaves – from 1 twig
Asafoetida – 1 tsp
Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Coriander Seed Powder – 1 tsp
Dry Mango Powder (Amchur Powder) – ½ tsp
Fennel (Saunf) Seed Powder – ½ tsp
Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
Salt – to taste
Method
Heat a pan and roast dry Gram Flour (Besan) in low flame till the flour releases a nice aroma. Keep stirring so that the Besan does not burn. Transfer it to a bowl or plate and keep aside.
Heat 1 ½ tbsp of Oil in the same pan. Add Mustard and allow it to splutter. Add Cumin Seed. When it sizzles, add chopped Onion, Green Chilli, Curry leaves and crushed Garlic. Sauté them till Onion turns translucent.
Add Capsicum and Red Chilli Powder, Coriander Seed Powder, Dry Mango Powder, Fennel (Saunf) Seed Powder and Turmeric Powder. Mix well. Cook in low medium flame stirring in between till the Capsicum is ¾ th done.
Addthe Besan little by little stirring all the time so that the Besan mixes well with the Capsicum.
Add the left over Oil also while adding the Besan and mix well. Keep mixing for 5 to 6 minutes in medium flame till the raw flavor of the Besan goes away.
