It is summer and so, it is the season for preparing all kind of juices to quench one’s thirst. And it is preferable to make juices from the seasonal fruits – like Mangoes, Water Melon etc. Despite the popular belief that watermelon is just water and sugar, watermelon is actually a nutrient dense food. It provides high levels of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants and just a small number of calories. Water Melon can be eaten directly. But, it can also be used to make very good juices during the summer.
Ingredients:
Water Melon Cubes – 3 cups
Sugar – 2 tsp
Grated Ginger – ½ tsp (optional)
Salt – a small pinch
Lemon Juice – as required
Chilled Water – as required
Method:
Wash the Water Melon. Cut it into halves. Remove the seeds and discard. Cut into cubes (remove the skin).
Take all the ingredients together in a blender and blend them smoothly. Add chilled water if you like the juice to be thinner. Pass the blended liquid thru a soup strainer to remove any seeds in the juice. The refreshing water melon juice is ready for serving. Pour in serving glasses and serve. Add Ice Cubes, if preferred.
Notes:
I used a sweet Water Melon. And so, I added very little Sugar. Adjust the quantity of Sugar depending on how sweet the water melon is.
