Sweetened poha

Poha also known as flattened or beaten rice is one of the healthiest breakfast options in India. It is rich in fiber and carbohydrates with very low gluten. It is one of the best breakfast options for diabetics.

We can make many different types of breakfast items with poha. This particular sweet poha recipe is very soothing to the stomach and filling at the same time 🙂

Ingredients:

Poha (flattened rice): 1 cup

Jaggery (cane sugar) syrup: 3 tbsp

Coconut (grated): 2 tbsp

Roasted sesame seeds: 1 tsp

Cardamom powder: ¼ tsp

To temper

Ghee: 1 tsp

Cashew: 8-10

Method:

Take the flattened rice (poha) in a sieve and wash it well.

Let it drain for 15-20 mins.

Transfer the soaked poha to bowl. Add jaggery syrup, coconut, sesame seeds and cardamom powder.

Mix it well.

Heat ghee. Add the cashews and fry it on slow flame till it develops a light brown color.

Add it to the poha and mix well.

Done!
