This is a very tasty Paratha using Spring Onion as the main ingredient. Generally I use Spring Onion for the Indo Chinese Dishes which I make. I tried making an Indian Paratha with Spring Onions. Try this! It will be awesome and a change from the usual Parathas.
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
Whole Wheat Flower – 1 cup
Maida (All Purpose Flour) – 1 cup
Salt – ½ tsp
Sugar – 1 tbsp
Warm Water
For Paratha:
Oil or Ghee or Butter – to cook Parathas
Finely Chopped Spring Onion Greens – ½ to ¾ cups
Ajwain (Carrom Seeds/ Omam) – as required
Garlic Powder – as required (it is optional)
Salt – as required
Method:
Take the whole wheat flour in a mixing bowl. Add Salt and Sugar. Mix well. Knead it to a soft dough with warm water. Allow it to rest for 20 to 30 minutes.
Knead it again and make it pliable.
Make big lemon sized balls from the dough. Dust flour on the rolling surface and make big sized Chapattis.
Spread some Oil on the chapattis. Spread spring Onion greens evenly on each chappati. Sprinkle some salt, Carom Seeds and Garlic Powder. Roll each Chappati into a tube. Fold the tube into a wheel shape. Tuck the ends.
Roll this wheel into thick or thin Parathas as you prefer. Cook the Parathas well on both sides well with Oil or Ghee or Butter.
Serve with Gravy or Pickle etc
Note:
We can also make these Parathas with Maida alone or Wheat Flour alone.
Reading your article helped me a lot and I agree with you. But I still have some doubts, can you clarify for me? I’ll keep an eye out for your answers.
