Green Channa Chaat is a spicy chaat /snack recipe. It is a protein rich recipe. This is a famous roadside recipe especially in the beach side in Mumbai.
Ingredients
Dry Green Chana (Dried Green Bengal Gram) – 1 ½ cup
Onion (finely chopped) – 1 cup
Green Chilli – 3 to 4 (finely chopped)
Tomato (finely chopped) – 1 cup
Roasted Jeera (Cumin) Seed Powder – 1 tsp
Chaat Masala – 1 tsp
Lemon Juice – ¾ tsp
Finely Chopped Cilantro (Dhania) – ¼ cup
Mangoes (finely chopped) – ¼ cup
Method
Soak the dry Chana in water for 6 to 8 hours.
Pressure cook them with 3 cups of water and a spoon of salt for 4 to 5 whistles. The Chana should become soft (not mushy).
Strain the water away. Take the Chana in a mixing bowl. Add the Onion, Tomato and Green Chilli, Roasted Jeera Powder, Chat Masala powder, Chilli Powder, Lemon Juice, Salt and Mangoes.
Mix well and serve immediately.
Note:
Adjust the ingredients to suit the taste bud.
Mango may not be available in all season. Omit it if it is not available. It adds a tangy flavor if added. Select Mangoes which are not sour.
