Besan Pyaaz Ki Subzi made with onions and gram flour is a very easy side dish which goes well with rice, Chappati etc. It is a very easy and quick to make dish which is very aromatic and tasty.
Ingredients:
Oil – 3 tbsp
Mustard Seeds – ½ tsp
Cumin Seeds – ½ tsp
Onion – 500 Gms (thinly sliced)
Curry Leaves – from 2 twigs
Green Chilies – 2 (sliced)
Grated Ginger – 1 tsp
Aniseed (Saunf Powder) – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1 pinch
Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Cumin Seed Powder – ½ tsp
Asafoetida – 1/8 tsp
Coriander Leaves – 1 tbsp
Salt to suit taste
Method:
Dry roast the Gram Flour for 3 to 4 minutes in low flame and keep aside.
Heat the Oil in the same pan. Add Cumin and Mustard Seeds and allow them to crackle. Add Asafoetida. Stir them. Add the sliced Onion, Green Chillies, Curry Leaves and Grated Ginger. Mix well and cook them in medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes till the Onions turn soft.
Add Saunf Powder, Turmeric Powder, Salt, Red Chilli Powder and Cumin Seed Powder.
Mix well and cook till the raw smell of the spices goes away.
Add the roasted Gram Flour little by little and cook for 4 to 5 minutes stirring all the while.
All the spices should blend well with the Gram Flour and the flour should coat the Onion evenly. The color of the flour will change. Sprinkle chopped Coriander Leaves.
Serve hot with Roti or Rice
