We will see a very tasty and healthy sweet dish that does not require any cooking. It is the Sweet Milk Poha. It is a healthy breakfast dish for kids as well as adults. Poha is rich Carbohydrates. It is a good source of anti-oxidants and Vitamins. It contains the required fat content also. Poha helps in controlling body Sugar. This dish is easily digestible.
Ingredients:
Flattened Rice (Poha) -Thick or Thin – 1/3 cup
Grated or chopped Jaggery – 2 tbsp or (as per your taste)
Grated Coconut – 1 tbsp
Warm Milk – 1 cup
Apple – ½ (cut into small cubes)
Cardamom Powder – 1 pinch (optional)
Ghee – ½ tsp
Dry Fruits (Cashews, Resins etc) – 2 tbsp
Method:
Rinse the Poha in a strainer couple of times in water. Keep aside for 10 minutes so that the Poha becomes soft.
Take the Poha in a mixing bowl. Add Ghee, Grated Coconut and Jaggery.
Add the warm milk and mix till the Jaggery dissolves in the milk.
Add the chopped Apples, Dry Fruits and Cardamom Powder.
Mix again.
The healthy breakfast dish is ready.
Notes:
The Jaggery I used is organic variety without any impurities. You can use Jaggery Syrup or Jaggery Powder also. Ensure that the Jaggery does not contain any impurities.
You can add cut Banana Pieces also.
The milk quantity can be adjusted to suit your liking.
