This inocous looking simple dish is one of the top favorites in our home. Paired with rice and dal, this dish is an ultimate comfort food. If boiled Potato is ready, this dish can be prepared within ten minutes. It goes well with curd rice, sambar rice, chapatti etc.
Ingredients
Boiled Potatoes (medium Sized) – 2
Coconut Oil (or any vegetable Oil) – 1 tbsp
Mustard (Rai) – ½ tsp
Black Gram Lentil (Urad Dal) – ½ tsp
Bengal Gram (Chana Dal) – ½ tsp
Onion – 2 (finely chopped)
Curry Leaves – 1 strand
Grated Coconut – ½ cup
Green Chilli – 3
Ginger – ½ inch long piece (chopped)
Method
Crumble the boiled Potatoes by hands and keep aside
Take the Grated Coconut, Green Chilli and Ginger in a small mixture jar.
Pulse grind without any water.
Heat the Oil in a pan. Add Mustard and allow it to crackle. Add Chana Dal and Urad Dal. Stir for a few seconds.
Add Chopped Onion and the Curry Leaves. Sauté till the Onion becomes translucent.
Add the crushed Coconut.
Stir cook for 2 to 3 minutes till the raw Ginger smell goes away. Add the crumbled Potatoes.
Stir till all the ingredients combines well with the Potatoes. It takes about 2 to 3 minutes.
