Home made cumin seed powder is very different from ready made powder available in stores in quality and taste.
Method:
Heat a broad based pan.
Add 100 grams of cumin seed.
Roast it in a low to medium flame.
When it becomes light brown and releases a nice aroma, put off the flame and remove the pan and allow it to cool.
Grind it into a fine or coarse powder according to preference.
Let the powder cool down. Store it in an air tight container.
Done!
It will stay fresh for almost 2 months. If stored in a fridge, its shelf life will be more than 3 months
Cumin Seed powder is used in the preparation of raitas, salad, chats, curries etc.
