Radish Greens Stir Fry

Radish is available with fresh and green leaves in the market. But many people tend to cut and throw away the greens and use only the root. But, the greens have very good health benefits. It helps in the functioning of liver and purifies the blood. The fiber helps in digestion. It treats urinary tract infection and removes toxins from the body.

Ingredients:

Radish Greens – 1 medium bunch

Oil – 1 tbsp

Mustard Seed – 1 tsp

Urad Dal – 2 tsp

Ginger – ½ inch long piece

Green Chillies – 3 to 4

Garlic – 4 pods

Onion -2 (finely chopped)

Grated Fresh Coconut – ¼ cup

Salt to taste

Method:

Clean and cut the Greens. Keep aside.

Crush the Ginger, Garlic and Green Chilli together. Keep aside

Heat the Oil in a pan. Add Mustard Seeds and let them crackle. Add Urad Dal. After a few seconds, add the crushed Ginger, Garlic, Green Chillies and Onions. Stir cook till the Onion become translucent. Add the Radish Greens and Salt.

Close the pan with a lid and allow the greens to get cooked soft. Stir at intervals.

Add the grated Coconut. Mix well.

Continue stir cooking for a couple of minutes.

Transfer to a serving bowl.

Note:

If the greens are tender, they get cooked easily without water. If they are not too tender, add ½ cup of water with the greens while cooking.
