Chatpata paneer is a tasty dish made of paneer and green peppers (capsicum). It is a versatile dish which can either served as a starter with a bowl of soup or can also be rolled inside a roti and served as a wrap. Also goes well with Dal Rice, Dahi Rice, Roti, Nan etc. 🙂
Ingredients
To crush:
Green Chilli – 2
Onion – 1 (chopped)
Ginger – 1 inch long piece (chopped)
Garlic – 8 pods
Other Ingredients
Oil – 2 tbsp
Cumin (Jeera) Seed – ¾ tsp
Tomato (Big Sized) – 1 (crushed)
Coriander (Dhania) Powder – 1 tbsp
Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Haldi (Turmeric Powder) – 1/8 tsp
Salt to taste
Dry Fenugreek Leaves (Kasoori Methi) – 1 tsp
Cottage Cheese (Paneer) – 200 GMs (cut into cubes)
Oil – 1 tsp
Capsicum (cut into pieces) – 1 cup
Onion (cut into cubes and separated) – 1 cup
Method
Crush coarsely the ingredients for crushing in a mixer without adding any water. Keep aside.
Heat 1 tsp of Oil in a pan. Add Onion and Capsicum cubes: sauté for 2 to 3 minutes in medium flame and transfer to a bowl or a plate.
In the same pan, add 2 tbsp of Oil. When it becomes hot, add Jeera, the crushed green chilli mix; sauté in medium flame till the raw smell of the masala goes away.
Add the crushed Tomato and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
Add Dhania Powder, Chilli Powder, Haldi and Salt. Mix well. Cover with a lid and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes stirring in between. Cook till the Oil separates.
Add the sautéed Onion and Capsicum mix.
Add Kasoori Methi.
Mix well.
Cover with the lid and simmer in medium flame for a couple of minutes. Add Paneer Cubes.
Mix gently. Cover again with the lid and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
Done!
Transfer to a serving bowl.
